Mexico Description:
The United Mexican States commonly known as Mexico, bordered on the north by the United States on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean, on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Mexico has one of the largest tourism industries in the world. The most notable tourist draws are the ancient Mesoamerican ruins, popular beach resorts and big variety of diving destinations.
Mexico is one of the best scuba dive destination, being the second largest barrier reef in the world stretching from the northern tip of Yucatan all the way to the Bay of Islands in Honduras.
The best place to dive in Mexico is the Cozumel island place became famous when Jacques Cousteau pronounced it to be one of the hidden gems in the world in 1961. In Mexico there is more excellent dive destinations like the Mayan Riviera, the coastal stretch between Cancun and Tulum. Well established dive destinations in Yucatan include the island Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Akumal.
One of the most exciting dive sites is Yucatan and its cenotes, formed because of flooded cave systems that were created millions of years ago in Yucatan's porous limestone surface area.
The south of the Baya California offer many dive sites which are popular for the many colonies of sea lions and seals. Other areas where diving is possible are Puerto Vallarta and Ixtapa. The Mexican Caribbean Sea is one of high visibilities, waters of 26 degrees Celsius and a world renowned paradise for divers.
