Cayman Islands Description:
The Cayman Islands are a British overseas territory located in the western Caribbean Sea. The Cayman Islands are three islands Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Islands are located south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica. Grand Cayman is by far the biggest island with an area of 197 km². The two "Sister Islands" of Cayman Brac has area of of 36 km² and Little Cayman has area of 26 km². Sister Islands are located about 130 km east of Grand Cayman. Over there are the peaks of a massive underwater ridge, known as the Cayman Trench, standing 2,400 m from the sea floor, which barely exceeds the surface. It is a destination which is said to have invented recreational scuba diving. The Cayman Islands is regarded as one of the world's best scuba diving destinations because of its crystal-clear waters and pristine walls.
The Cayman Islands aren't cheep, over there everything is focused on tourism luxury resorts, expensive hotels, good dining, excellent shopping opportunities, boat charters, dive shops, parasailing, windsurfing, waterskiing and kayaking. One of Grand Cayman's main attractions is the world-famous Seven Mile Beach which is regarded by many as one of the best beaches in the world.
Climate is tropical with rainy summers and cool dryer winters. Water temperatures range between 26 and 28 degrees and visibility exceed 30 m most of the year. Diving is spectacular because of steep walls, strong currents and shallow reefs characterize the Cayman Islands. In water you can find all kind of tropical fishes, colourful sponges and hard corals. You can easily see turtles, barracuda, eagle rays, Nassau groupers and sharks. Stingrays have its own city named Stingray City where you can meet over 150 rays at a time. There are many shipwrecks along the coast from the pirate time. Most of the reef is part of Marine Parks and permanent moorings for boats have been installed to protect the reef as much as possible. There are more than two hundred listed dive sites around the Cayman Islands.
